Half-Life 2 Information Well, I guess it's that time again.

We will have to cough up some $$ for the new Team Fortress 2 game that is creating this thing called the "orange box"...

I pre-ordered mine today and noticed that there were some servers out there. I looked and there were none that sported the KoSGamers name, I looked and looked and there was none to be found. Well we can't have that so... I downloaded all the needed stuff and well, I set one up. Here is the server name and connection information for those of us that have been bold enough to pre-purchase the orange box:

Servername: KoSGamers Team Fortress Deuce
Connection address: kos2.kosgamers.net:27015

I am working on getting the admin functions working, there is currently no SDK and the great Beetles is currently working to get something that all of the admins can use. Until then I will post some information in the forums on the status of things and where we are with getting the admin setup for use. Until we get everything working we can use rcon or HLSW.

As always ENJOY!!!

Valve Reveals New Details On Episode Two
July 14, 2006, 3:37 pm · Chris Bokitch

Includes Team Fortress 2 and Portal, Heading To PC and Next Gen Console

Bellevue, WA, July 14, 2006 - Valve®, developer of the blockbuster series Half-Life® and Counter-StrikeTM, unveiled Team Fortress® 2 and Portal, two new games to be included in its next release, Half-Life® 2: Episode Two. In addition, the studio announced its plans to deliver these products, plus enhanced versions of Half-Life 2 and Episode One, in one tremendous package for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

"By evolving our development process to an episodic approach, we're able to reduce risk from things such as schedule and funding and invest more in new types of gameplay," said Gabe Newell, president and co-founder of Valve. "This allows us to produce innovative titles such as Portal and Team Fortress 2 and deliver them in a timely fashion to customers along with Episode Two."

Episode Two advances the 16-million unit selling franchise, as Valve's trilogy of episodic single player releases continues the award-winning story of Half-Life 2. Armed with new weaponry and vehicles, Dr. Gordon Freeman must race through a countryside riddled with an increasingly fierce Combine threat.

Half-Life 2 Information Looks like Valve may have switched to Thursday news instead of Friday. Doesn't matter to me, as long as it keeps coming... -HK

Thursday, June 15 2006
One of the by-products of moving the Half-Life story forward in episodic form is that the community has lots of interesting things to talk, argue, and make guesses about between installments. There have been many unofficial attempts to chronicle the story's various questions and answers, and two of them have recently caught our eye here at Valve. They are Chan "Ventro" K's Half-Life Saga Story Guide and the Wikipedia Episode One page. Note that these pages feature key story elements from Episode One, so we wouldn't recommend reading them until after you've played through the game.

The next big update coming to our multiplayer games will include two completely new maps for Day of Defeat: Source, named Colmar and Jagd. (Long-time Day of Defeat players will recognize the name Jagd, but the name is really all the new map shares with its predecessor.) Both maps will have slightly differing takes on a new gameplay style we're calling "Detonation". Both will be released on the 28th of June, along with other updates to the game itself.

Steam Weekly News

Thursday, June 8 2006

It's been one week since we officially launched Half-Life 2: Episode One. So far the critical response has been great. The feedback we value most highly, though, is the kind we get from players. Between email, bug reports, forum posts, and wiki contributions, we've already gotten a good idea of which elements of the game worked best, and how to make Episode Two even better.

The folks running the Verizon FiOS Grand Tournament have opened the official practice sessions for their $100,000 Half-Life 2: Deathmatch tournament, which begins June 15th. There's still time to sign-up, and the tournament is open to players of all skill levels residing in the United States. For more info head on over to fiosgrand.com.

Valve Launches First of an Episodic Trilogy

view the Half-Life®2: Episode 1 Launch Teaser 1

Bellevue, WA, May 22, 2006 - Valve®, developer of the blockbuster series Half-Life® and Counter-StrikeTM, announced Half-Life® 2: Episode One has gone gold. Episode One is the first in a trilogy of episodes that will conclude by Christmas of 2007.

Half-Life 2: Episode One advances the 15-million unit selling franchise and launches the first in a new, three-part series that leads far beyond City 17. Half-Life 2: Episode One does not require Half-Life 2 to play, and will be available via Steam® and at retail stores in North America for just $19.95 on June 1st. Also included in Episode One is a first look at Episode Two, which will ship by year's end.

"Given the rapid changes in PC gaming, we expect episodic games will have the same impact on single-player gaming that Counter-Strike had on multiplayer," said Gabe Newell, president and co-founder of Valve. "The frequent releases of upgraded technology and new content works better for both consumers and developers, and is one of the key reasons Counter-Strike grew to be 80% of the online action market. We decided that a follow-up to Half-Life 2 delivered in 18 months with our first episode was more in tune with what our customers want than waiting 6 years for another monolithic product."
